Youth
Development Program
Objective:
Designed
to assist students in preparing for their future entry into the
labor market. Focuses on providing work experience, developmental
learning experience and entrepreneurial skills for in-school
youth through the provision of a wage subsidy to employers.
Eligible
Sponsors:
Aboriginal
Bands, organizations, aboriginal small businesses and/or corporations.
Eligible
Clients:
Students
that are currently attending Secondary / Post Secondary institutions
and Youth (currently not in school).
Activities:
Should
provide career-related experience, address social issues, or
provide specific entrepreneurial training.
Time
Frame: Negotiable
Wage
Subsidy:
Private
sector - Maximum $2.50 per hour. Public Sector - Maximum $4.25
per hour and Non-Profit - $7.00 per hour or current minimum wage.
Mandatory
Employment Related Costs: CPP-2.36%; UIC-4.22%; Holiday Pay-4%
(as at December 2/97) plus WCB costs.
Training
Costs: Negotiable-training costs when related to youth training.
Overhead
Costs:
Up
to $100.00 per employee (only when required and when ISETS budget
permits).
Special Costs: No funds allowed for Special Costs.
Note:
The
ISETS Board of Directors encourage all applicants of their programs,
to seek financial resources other than ISETS funds that are available,
as well as consider employer contribution whenever possible.
