Partner Assisted Learning

Aboriginal Partner Assisted Learning (APAL) is a community partnership between the Secwepemc Cultural Education Society, Thompson Rivers University and the Ministry of Advanced Education and Labour Market Development.
APAL offers a safe and supportive environment for First Nations and other adults to receive one-to-one tutoring for improving their literacy skills. Volunteers of APAL go through a training session in which they learn the skills to support learners in the program. Tutors are then individually matched with learners to help them reach their goals.
